This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it.

In Thousand Oaks, garden centers are busiest on spring weekends, when new stock arrives and popular plants sell out; weekday mornings are calmer and staff have more time to answer questions. Ask which plants are hardy for your USDA zone in California, whether trees and shrubs carry a replacement guarantee (one year is common), and whether the nursery delivers and plants large items. Fall is the best planting season for many trees and perennials, and end-of-season sales are common. Many nurseries close or shorten hours in winter, so check the listing for current hours and Google rating before you go.

Thousand Oaks is in California, on the West Coast, where the climate ranges from foggy coast to hot inland valleys, wildfire season can affect air quality in late summer, and traffic is the main thing to plan around. Getting around Thousand Oaks is easiest by car; street parking is metered in busy downtown areas, and most suburban businesses have their own lot. Ride-share apps such as Uber and Lyft operate across California's larger cities, and public transit varies from extensive to minimal.

I went for a Sunday class to learn how to take care of my new bonsai that was gifted to me from my son for Mother’s Day. I was very happy with all the information that Colin was able to provide. Colin also informed me that he takes care of bonsai trees if you are on vacation, this was very convenient for me because I am going out of town for a month and was worried about the health of my bonsai. I am very happy that I found the bonsai studio and I’m excited about my new journey into the care of bonsai trees.

We signed up for the beginner bonsai class a few months ago and then headed to take the class yesterday. Colin had been great to work with just to schedule the class, but he was even more great to work with in person. His knowledge and passion for what he does was very evident. I would highly recommend both these classes for some focused time as well as just a visit to the studio any time.

Absolutely gorgeous, stunning collection of bonsai of all different sizes and species. Just casually strolling through this nursery, it's clear that the proprietors and employees are extremely passionate and loving in the work that they do. I came on a Monday afternoon and met Collin, who was beyond kind and helpful. Between classes he gave me insights into some of their more interesting and aged trees, and was always available for questions or concerns regarding anything bonsai related. They sell trees of all sizes and levels of training, from decades old Japanese imports to fresh clones off rarer Juniper species. They sell more than just trees too. They have a good variety of pots of all sizes, tools, fertilizer, custom blended bonsai soil, raw akadama, pest killers, imported tools, cut paste, wire, etc. Just about everything you could hope to need to get started or even shore up an experienced hobbyist's toolkit. The pieces on display are stunning and speak to the wisdom, experience, and expertise of the staff. They offer beginners classes or even just hourly rates for checking out your already established bonsai. This place is a true gem hidden away in a corner of Thousan

This bonsai studio is magical. Always a pleasure to visit whenever we visit LA area. Colin and Travis are both passionate about bonsai and generous with their time - they always give us helpful tips and stories about the trees. They have a good selection of pots, tools, and black pines. All the bonsai specimen we have bought from them are thriving 5 years later. Next time we will have to check out their classes. Thank you for doing a great job.
